Act Of War (2014)

review 1: Actually, I would rate this a 4.5 - so good! After years of meticulous planning, the Chinese are about to launch Operation Snow Dragon, and say good-bye to the U.S.A. as we know it. Americans will not be able to function thus allowing China to lay claim to our land and vast resources. It's a race against time as the President and every intel agency at his disposal try to identify the players, determine the nature of the attack, and prevent it from being set into motion. Brad Thor raises some very interesting questions: At what point do our loans become collateralized when borrowing from other countries? Why don't we have to show ID when boarding an airplane making it possible for bad guys to "disappear" by trading boarding passes after passing through security? Are . more foreign students and interns thoroughly vetted before we welcome them with open arms? Needless to say, this was a true thriller!!
review 2: this is a good thriller about current geo-political concerns in a world economy. the author does a great job developing all the characters and scenarios up to the climax, but then he wraps everything up too quickly. Sort of like climbing a mountain with all the struggles and difficulties but after reaching the top, he finishes the book like an avalanche rolling thru the valley cleaning out everything in its path. less
